2024 Award Recipients

The Frank Asenbrenner Award of Excellence

Christopher Teipner

You can read one of CT’s noteworthy nominations here:

CT has performed, directed and motivated at Ashland. His shows are a specter to behold for audiences across the Twin Cities area. Not only has his shows been critically acclaimed year after year by multiple theatre goers, but is an outstanding performer himself. But for CT, it’s not about the show. It’s about creating a family that loves to create art with one another. Who else would anyone trust to direct a shows like Sweeney Todd, or Newsies OTHER than the great CT? He has an unbroken work ethic, even when his personal life gets rough, nothing keeps him down. He strives to have a good fun show that everyone can look forward to being in, and coming to see. He has mentored and taught so much to people throughout the years. Some of his students still perform to this day, some went on to do other things in life, but they all have CT in common. He is a gift that, rather than “keep on giving” he “refuses to stop” because it makes his heart happy to do what he does.

The Volunteer of the Year Award

Connie Kurtz

You can read one of Connie’s noteworthy nominations here:

Connie dedicates so much of her time and talents to the Ashland community and deserves this award ten times over. She is always ready to jump in with a helping hand and has the most positive, can-do attitude of anyone I’ve ever met. I’ve seen her take on multiple roles in the last year alone that have been brand new to her, and she has stepped into every position with grace and determination. Ashland would not be the community it is without Connie’s contributions, and it is my sincere pleasure to nominate her for the Ashland Volunteer of the Year Award.
